Job summary

Workiva seeks a strategic, high-impact VP of PR & Corporate Communications to shape and scale the company’s storytelling globally. Reporting to the CMO, you will lead external communications, public relations, product and crisis communications, public affairs, and executive communications across audiences that matter.

You will build trusted executive platforms, partner with internal teams, and establish governance with measurable KPIs to drive business outcomes and protect Workiva’s reputation.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive communications experience with senior leadership in B2B SaaS/enterprise tech
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global communications strategy aligned with company strategy, AI initiatives, product value and regulatory trends
• Serve as trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team; build executive thought leadership and handle media prep, speechwriting, and social strategy
• Establish governance, KPIs, and agency oversight to align external storytelling with business outcomes
• Lead external communications, media relations, product announcements, and crisis communications
• Be a senior company spokesperson; partner with Brand and product marketing to amplify platform value
• Own crisis strategy with Legal, Security, People & Culture, IR, and CPX; create playbooks and escalation paths
• Drive global thought leadership and reputation, connecting Workiva to high-impact forums and topics like trust and sustainability
• Define executive engagement and partnerships to expand external influence and ensure cohesive messaging
• Lead cross-functional alignment to integrate partnerships into the corporate narrative while avoiding direct lobbying
• Advise CEO on messaging, write speeches, and prep for key moments; prep leaders for media and events
• Oversee crisis readiness and preparedness infrastructure and rapid response capabilities
• Lead a high-performing team of 3-5 professionals plus external agencies; optimize operations and ROI
