Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to own the Payments Platform strategy and architecture. You will mentor and grow Engineering Managers, drive high standards for reliability and observability, and align platform capabilities with global growth and regulatory requirements.

You will partner with Product and other stakeholders to define roadmaps, balance delivery with platform health, and steer architecture for a high-volume fintech environment across multiple regions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience managing Engineering Managers or Leads and scaling high-performing teams.
• Strong ability to partner with Product to define roadmaps and drive outcomes.
• Deep fluency in architecture and design for large-scale distributed systems.
• Comfort in fast-paced, regulated fintech environments demanding data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Airwallex's Payments Platform.
• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering org across multiple squads.
• Provide architectural direction for high-volume, mission-critical payment systems.
• Drive cross-functional execution balancing quick wins with long-term platform health.
• Collaborate with Product, Commercial, Risk, and Compliance leaders to support growth and regulatory needs.
