OpenAI in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Global Head of Events to lead a large, established global events and production team and define what comes next. Your remit spans flagship conferences, product launches, developer gatherings, executive programs, regional events, and our presence at industry moments.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Global Head of Events to lead a large, established global events and production team, with the opportunity to define what comes next.

Working with OpenAI’s executive team, you’ll set the direction for our event portfolio, focus investment on the experiences that matter most, and give the team the clarity and support to do its best work. This is a chance to build on a substantial foundation and create the experiences people will associate with OpenAI for years to come.

Your remit will span the company: flagship conferences, product launch experiences, developer gatherings, executive programs, regional events, and our presence at important industry and cultural moments. You’ll own the strategy, team, investments, and agency relationships that make that work possible. The team also leads in-house production for OpenAI’s town halls, webinar studio, and film projects.

You’ll bring creative judgment, business instincts, and a love of bringing people together. You’re entrepreneurial and deeply curious: ready to start with an open question, find a direction, and learn by making things. You can make good decisions with incomplete information, bring others along, and change course when you learn something new.

You’re also excited to use AI in your own work and help the team discover better ways to plan, create, and deliver experiences.

In this role, you will

• Set OpenAI’s global events strategy and focus investment on the experiences that matter most.
• Partner with executives on event priorities, programming, and participation in key moments.
• Create flagship gatherings and original formats that bring our products, ideas, and communities together.
• Work across Brand, Creative, Product, Research, and Communications to create thoughtful, cohesive attendee experiences.
• Lead and develop a global events and production team, while helping regional teams adapt experiences for their markets.Own budgets, agencies, vendors, and complex production in partnership with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Security.Oversee in-house production for town halls, webinars, and film projects.Partner with Revenue Marketing, Field Marketing, and developer teams on audience goals and follow-through; connect live, digital, and hybrid events to engagement beyond the room.Define success across product understanding, adoption, community, customer relationships, brand, and business results, using feedback and AI to improve future experiences.

  You might thrive in this role if you

  • 14+ years of experience in global events, experiential marketing, and large-scale production, including leadership of teams, budgets, and programs across multiple markets.
  • A track record of creating distinctive flagship experiences and building the teams and processes to deliver them consistently.
  • Strong creative judgment and an understanding of how to design experiences for developers, business leaders, customers, partners, and communities.
  • Experience developing leaders, setting priorities across a broad portfolio, and guiding an established team through change.
  • Experience leading complex live and recorded productions, managing agencies and significant budgets, and partnering with senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to connect event investment to meaningful outcomes while keeping the attendee experience central.
  • An entrepreneurial approach to ambiguity, curiosity about AI, and firsthand experience using it to improve your work.

  Workplace & Location

  This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Occasional travel will be required.

  Compensation

  $361K – $401K + Offers Equity

  The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If the role is non-exempt, overtime pay will be provided consistent with applicable laws. In addition to the salary range listed above, total compensation also includes generous equity, performance-related bonus(es) for eligible employees, and the following benefits.
