Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Managing Director, Data, AI & Applied Technology to define how data, applied tech, and AI deliver conservation and business value across the organization.

Reporting to the COO with dotted-line to the CEO, you will lead enterprise data strategy, governance, responsible AI, and partnerships, building a federated data model and guiding adoption across regions and domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years at senior level in a global/multi-product organization.
• Experience partnering with corporations, governments, NGOs across multiple countries.
• Experience translating strategy into data, analytics, applied technology, or AI-enabled outcomes.
• Experience with executive communication and influencing senior audiences.
• Experience leading governance, decision rights, adoption strategies, and benefits realization.
• Experience with data privacy, security, ethical data use, and responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise business data, applied technology, and AI strategies aligned to conservation priorities.
• Establish federated domain data ownership across multiple enterprise domains.
• Lead enterprise data governance and responsible AI guidance with risk reviews.
• Gain executive commitment to data stewardship, data quality, and AI adoption.
• Build data literacy programs in partnership with People, Learning, IT, and business domains.
• Operate as trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and represent TNC externally on data/AI.
• Manage annual operating budget and vendor/partner contracts.
