Job summary

Clario, a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, seeks a Head of Research & Development to advance its global technology organization and strategy. You will steer AI-driven modernization, define roadmaps, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, regulatory-compliant clinical trial software.

The role emphasizes executive collaboration, strategic planning, and building teams across regions to accelerate AI-enabled solutions while ensuring quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 15+ years leading enterprise-level R&D organizations or large-scale technology programs.
• Proven experience managing the full product engineering lifecycle using Agile methodologies with a focus on MLOps and CI/CD for AI.
• Extensive experience delivering solutions in cloud (AWS/Azure), IaaS, and PaaS environments, leveraging cloud-native AI/ML services.
• Strong background managing teams operating under formal Product and Development Lifecycles, including AI model validation in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of evolving AI landscape and experience implementing AI in regulated environments preferred.
• Demonstrated success in leadership, managing geographically diverse teams and data science/engineering teams in complex environments.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise solution architecture, data privacy (GDPR/HIPAA), and security standards as they relate to LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the global R&D roadmap with AI-driven modernization.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver AI/ML-enabled platforms.
• Balance innovation with operational excellence across current and next-gen products.
• Manage R&D budget and resources for AI infrastructure and data science talent.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence and ethical AI use.
