Job summary

United Nations Foundation Inc. seeks a Senior Director, Grantmaking to lead the organization’s grantmaking strategy and operations. The role oversees UNF’s grant portfolio with the UN system and external partners, driving governance and excellence in grantmaking design and evaluation.

Based in Washington, D.C., New York City, or globally, this senior leader shapes MEL practices, donor reporting, and cross-team collaboration to maximize impact aligned with UNF’s mission.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit international grantmaking.
• Proven track record designing and managing creative funding instruments and grant portfolios.
• Experience leading across cross-functional teams and complex processes.
• Proven ability to work with international and cross-cultural partners.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with donors and beneficiaries.
• Strong understanding of grant compliance standards and due diligence.
• Experience designing or improving workflows, SOPs, or governance models.
• Familiarity with UN or multilateral systems and international grantmaking.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and oversight of UNF’s grantmaking strategy and governance.
• Oversee UNF’s grant portfolio to the United Nations and external partners.
• Ensure clear, timely reporting and donor stewardship.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to UNF teams engaged in grantmaking.
• Collaborate with Communications and program teams to align grant opportunities and impact.
