Job summary

Ocean Conservancy is seeking a Director, International Government Relations to coordinate our international policy advocacy across conservation programs. The role drives a unified voice before governments and institutions, and leads the IGR team, including budget and workplans, reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs.

The position requires 5+ years in international policy or diplomacy, a bachelor’s in a related field, strong relationship management, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in international policy, diplomacy or government relations (5+ years).
• Ability to build and run coordination systems across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Track record of contributing to international coalitions and engaging diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Directly engage with governments and international institutions on Ocean Conservancy's priorities.
• Manage IGR team direct reports and budget, and oversee annual workplans.
• Coordinate cross-program advocacy and maintain a unified, One-OC voice across programs.
• Run internal coordination calls and global visibility updates, addressing coordination gaps.
• Coordinate a unified approach at major multi-issue convenings and manage the international events calendar.
