Job summary

Puffy, a nine-figure D2C brand, seeks a General Counsel to own the in-house function across consumer compliance, fund docs, and custody protocols. You will report to the CEO, shape risk controls, and drive audit cadence for a remote-first, AI-enabled organization with global reach.

With 5–10 years of legal experience and a JD, you will manage outside counsel, oversee cross-border matters, and influence strategic decisions across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and bar in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 5–10 years of legal experience, mix of law firm and in-house preferred.
• Experience managing multiple outside counsel relationships.
• Ability to act as sole legal resource with no internal legal team.
• AI fluency for research, drafting and risk identification.
• Experience with cross-border structuring and regulatory compliance.
• Strong judgment and strategic risk perspective.

Responsibilities

• Own in-house legal function across consumer compliance, fund documentation and custody protocols.
• Build audit cadence, compliance systems, and counterparty controls.
• Lead cross-border structuring and manage outside counsel relationships.
• Provide strategic legal risk guidance to CEO and leadership.
• Drive proactive risk identification and regulatory foresight.
