Job summary

Essense of Australia is seeking a Garment Technician for the US Collections team to ensure accurate fit, construction, fabric, and quality across our bridal gowns. You will liaise with Design Development, Sampling, and international factories to provide technical direction and hands-on quality expertise throughout the garment life cycle.

This on-site role requires up to 10% travel internationally and collaborates with global teams to deliver production-ready specs and flawless samples for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Fashion, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical design or equivalent is required.
• Extensive understanding of garment construction, including sewing, pattern making, and grading, to achieve perfect fit.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with offshore manufacturers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-body review of garments during approval, ensuring design changes are accurately represented.
• Develop technical packages: specs, fit comments, pattern corrections, grading rules, fabric and trim requirements.
• Conduct technical inspections of sample garments and communicate clear instructions to manufacturers.
• Analyze style instructions and sampling comments to determine technical construction decisions.
• Provide technical knowledge across the garment life cycle to ensure quality and consumer satisfaction.
• Travel internationally to factory locations (up to 4 times/year) for development and QC checks.
• Collaborate with Product Operations and factories to finalize samples and production packages.
• Review bulk production runs for quality, construction, and fabric standards before shipment.
• Guide Alterations team in sample research and development; process complex gown changes.
• Lead Showroom Mannequin presentations with accurate gown visuals for selling events.
• Support photoshoots and verify sample accuracy before Line Reviews.
• Communicate with factories on technical matters and manage samples and product lines.
• Contribute technical knowledge to process improvements and reporting.
• Monitor fit, construction, and workmanship standards across factories.
• Analyze, negotiate, and maintain factory costings.
