Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Fluid Fill Systems Technical Specialist for the General Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team. You will lead design and standardization of all fluid fill equipment, including brake evacuation and fill, radiator fill, fuel fill, and air suspension fill, across GMNA.

You will guide strategy, requirements, supplier collaboration, and post-launch improvements, ensuring safe, cost-effective, repeatable solutions. Travel to plants and supplier locations is required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience with machinery, equipment and tooling, focusing on fluid-fill, dispense, metering, evacuation, pressure/vacuum, leak-test, or related automated equipment.
  • Experience taking automated manufacturing equipment from concept through supplier execution, installation, launch and post-launch support.
  • Expert-level automation experience to reduce labor costs and improve safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Experience developing Manufacturing Requirements, equipment specifications, SORs, BOE/BOP content, and technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the design, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for all fluid-fill systems in General Assembly.
  • Benchmark world-class processes, develop BoE, and lead global expert team meetings.
  • Establish and maintain global fluid-fill strategies, standard work, MRs, and documentation to drive reuse and scalability across programs.
  • Develop strategies to standardize fluid-fill equipment across centers to meet future product requirements.
  • Lead feasibility studies and prototyping for new automation opportunities and methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to GMNA Assembly Plants; travel to plants to resolve issues (up to 25% overnight travel).
  • Develop process manufacturing requirements (MRs) for all fluid-fill systems; maintain supplier-facing technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment; escalate risks with documented evidence.
  • Ensure designs address safeguarding, hazards, regulatory requirements, and RESS/high-voltage considerations; participate in PFMEA/MFMEA and related activities.
