Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking an engineer to lead design and validation across propulsion systems and controls. You will balance requirements, perform DFMEA, plan complex test programs and coordinate with internal and supplier teams.

Bachelor's in Engineering required with at least 2 years of engineering experience; Master’s preferred, DFSS Green Belt, and design release experience for sealing/fastening. Hybrid role; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of propulsion systems and basic controls.
• Interpersonal skills to work with business partners.
• Knowledge of software as it relates to engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead communication and coordination with engineering departments and customers.
• Establish designs meeting performance, timing, BOM/BOP/BOD, and serviceability.
• Balance requirements across systems and analyze designs via DFMEA.
• Plan and implement complex test/development programs.
• Demonstrate designs meet requirements through analysis and validation.
• Represent the business unit in vendor/customer contacts.
• Release final designs for manufacturing or purchase as appropriate.
• Conduct incident analysis and ensure problem resolution through PRTS+.
• Implement engineering changes as required.
• Participate in cost studies, product suggestions and value analysis.
• Define hardware and budget for experimental builds.
• Participate in product management and lead development teams as appropriate.
• Support supplier quality assurance and lead warranty issue resolution.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.
