Job summary

National Geographic Society in Washington, DC is seeking a Manager, Explorer Capacity Development to design and deliver learning, leadership development and mentorship programs for Explorers. This fixed-term role focuses on new capacity-building initiatives across a global network.

Reporting to the Director, you will design and facilitate in-person and online offerings, manage logistics, and collaborate with divisions to strengthen explorer communities and knowledge exchange.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience teaching and/or facilitating trainings and/or project management in a global context.
  • Experience with learning management systems and video conferencing to support learning.
  • Strong written and oral communication with cross-department collaboration.
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate learning programs for diverse Explorers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, produce, facilitate and manage educational offerings aligned with Explorer Capacity Development.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual learning sessions with mentors and subject-matter experts.
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops and courses, including timelines and contracts.
  • Monitor effectiveness of offerings and adapt programs based on feedback and needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-department teams to integrate Explorers into the broader community.
