Job summary

The National Geographic Society seeks a Specialist for the Exploration Technology Lab to support program delivery across conservation technology, data management, and outreach. You will help manage research initiatives, synthesize findings, and build dashboards that visualize program impact while coordinating logistics and partnerships.

This hybrid role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work across international stakeholders and time zones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in one or more science or conservation related fields is strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in science or conservation, program coordination, metrics and evaluation, operations, or administrative support is preferred.
  • Experience conducting research and synthesizing findings into clear written summaries.
  • Strong organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines, with changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals and groups at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently on process-driven work.
  • Ability to compile information from disparate sources and produce condensed messaging and recommendations.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
  • Positive attitude with proactive approach.
  • Experience coordinating across international stakeholders or time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for Conservation and Storytelling Technology Research; conduct landscape analyses and synthesize findings into actionable summaries for program staff.
  • Ingest and organize program management data; support dashboards and reports to visualize program impact.
  • Coordinate hardware and material acquisition, shipping, and expense reporting; manage project records and meeting notes.
  • Assist outreach: recruit and engage Explorers, draft and distribute content and surveys, build distribution lists.
  • Support collaboration with partners, contractors, and departments to streamline program delivery.
