The Ohio State University is seeking a Global Engagement Program Assistant to support cultural exchange and international student success on the Columbus campus. This role blends administrative coordination, event support, and program logistics within a fast-paced university setting.

You will work with the Global Engagement team, coordinate orientations and student activities, and occasionally lead evening or weekend programs to foster inclusion and connection across campus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Interest in working with international students.
  • Detail-oriented in fast-paced environments.
  • Evening and weekend availability.
  • Comfort presenting to large groups.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Workday procurement experience (preferred).
  • Experience communicating with non-native English speakers (preferred).
  • Event planning experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSU systems (SIS, Workday, Qualtrics) (preferred).
  • Budget management experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organization, promotion, coordination, and implementation of programs designed to promote cultural exchange and belonging among international and domestic students.
  • Manage purchasing and payment processes, including gathering quotes, payment details, and documenting expenses in Workday
  • Oversee supply management for the team
  • Support outreach activities and promotional tabling events
  • Secure room reservations and bus reservations for programs and activities
  • Manage travel participant agreements for off-campus trips
  • Coordinate event planning and implementation alongside Global Engagement team
  • Support International Student Orientation and student leadership programs within the Office of International Affairs
  • Plan and lead social activities and off-campus trips for international and domestic students
  • Provide additional administrative and logistical support as assigned
  • Cover evening and weekend programs several times per month

OVERVIEW The Global Engagement Program Assistant at The Ohio State University supports the Office of International Affairs by helping create programs and activities that encourage cultural exchange, international student success, and engagement between domestic and international students. Based on the Columbus Campus, this role combines administrative coordination, event support, student engagement, and program logistics within a fast-paced higher education environment. The position includes regular collaboration with the Global Engagement team and requires occasional evening and weekend availability.

Key responsibilities

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Demonstrated interest in working with international students or individuals
  • Ability to complete detailed work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability for evening and weekend work
  • Comfort giving presentations to large groups and leading group activities
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: Experience with procurement processes in Workday
  • Preferred: Experience communicating with non-native English speakers
  • Preferred: Experience with event planning
  • Preferred: Proficiency in a language other than English
  • Preferred: Experience with Ohio State systems such as SIS, Workday, and Qualtrics
  • Preferred: Experience with workplace budget management
