Islamic Relief USA is seeking an International Emergency Response Lead in Alexandria, VA. The role drives design, coordination, and execution of large-scale humanitarian responses across regions, with field deployment, strategic partnerships, and donor engagement at the core.

The candidate will oversee needs assessments, response strategy, and program implementation while ensuring compliance with humanitarian standards.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required
• 5-7+ years of international humanitarian response experience
• Experience with institutional donors (e.g., USAID/BHA, State Department, UN agencies, ECHO)
• Willingness to travel internationally on short notice (up to 30–50%)
• Experience in high-pressure, rapidly changing contexts
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with safeguarding and humanitarian coordination systems (clusters)

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale international emergency responses
• Oversee rapid needs assessments, strategy development, and program implementation
• Ensure timely, contextually appropriate responses aligned with humanitarian standards
• Deploy on short notice to lead or support response operations
• Represent the organization in external engagements and donor forums
• Support business development and donor engagement efforts
• Ensure programs meet donor requirements and compliance standards
• Promote accountability, monitoring, evaluation, and learning
