Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Associate Director, Test Engineering to build and lead a world-class, globally distributed test engineering function from Alameda, CA. You will own end-to-end testing strategy across mobile apps, data pipelines, and AI/ML models, ensuring quality as a direct expression of care for users.

You will hire, mentor, and unify teams across time zones, shape testing standards, and partner with Regulatory Affairs to meet FDA and GDPR requirements while accelerating high-frequency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years in software or test engineering, including 5+ years leading and scaling engineering managers and global quality teams.
• Hands-on background in mobile quality engineering for consumer applications at scale.
• Experience with quality strategy for data-intensive platforms including IoT and real-time data pipelines.
• Proficient with modern automation frameworks across mobile, API, and pipeline testing.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD and quality compliance in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale a distributed test engineering team across US, Europe, and India.
• Define unified quality engineering culture across geographies and tools.
• Develop career paths, mentorship, and performance expectations for global quality talent.
• Own quality architecture and test strategy across iOS/Android apps, data pipelines, AI/ML services, and backend.
• Lead verification strategy for biosensor and CGM data integrity across ingestion pipelines.
• Build testing infrastructure to support high-frequency releases for mobile and platform surfaces.
• Establish CI/CD standards and shift-left testing to embed quality in design and development.
• Manage regulatory compliance activities including audits and CAPA responses.
