Abbott is hiring for a senior verification engineer in the United States (Alameda). You will own end-to-end verification for cloud services, mobile apps, and connected devices, translating requirements into robust test plans and executing across the lifecycle.

You will develop verification strategies compliant with FDA 21 CFR, ISO 13485, and IEC 62304; mentor colleagues; and advance CI/CD and automation to improve quality and delivery speed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in software engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in software verification and quality engineering.
• 2+ years in medical device software development under FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, IEC 62304.
• Strong expertise in medical device V&V with defect management and traceability.
• Experience identifying test automation opportunities across mobile, web, API platforms.
• Experience with modern CI/CD ecosystems (GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Harness).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute end-to-end software verification for cloud services, mobile apps, and devices.
• Translate requirements into verification strategies, test plans, and cases.
• Develop and improve verification plans in line with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, developers, and QA teams.
• Support risk management including analysis, triage, and root-cause investigations.
• Participate in design reviews and verify inputs/outputs meet expectations.
• Design scalable testing strategies across functional, integration, system, and regression tests.
• Evolve test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive continuous improvement of verification processes and metrics.
• Mentor junior test engineers in engineering discipline and automation best practices.
