Job summary

The Hertz Corporation seeks a Director of Software Engineering to lead hands-on, strategic technology efforts across Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty brands. You will drive modernization of global rental platforms and own platform reliability at scale.

You will manage distributed teams, collaborate with product and operations, define architectural direction, and ensure secure, compliant software from reservation through return.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering designing cloud-native systems.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Proficient with AWS and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with NoSQL, build tools (Maven/Gradle), and Git.
• Enterprise integration patterns (MQ, SOAP, XML).
• Strong Agile background.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Math/EE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build, and modernization of global rental platforms.
• Define future-state architecture for scalable platforms.
• Partner with product and design to roadmap backlogs.
• Hands-on through architecture reviews and pairing.
• Build and lead global engineering teams.
• Develop talent and create career paths.
• Establish engineering standards for cloud-native patterns and observability.
• Ensure security, compliance, high availability.
