Job summary

Coptic Orphans is seeking a Diaspora Engagement Director to build and lead a new Diaspora & Community Engagement Department. You will shape a strategy connecting diaspora communities to Egypt across the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, while guiding program design and cross-functional partnerships.

You will oversee program innovation, alumni networks, and diaspora mentoring, ensuring sustainable engagement beyond fundraising outcomes. International travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in international development, nonprofit management, theology, cultural studies, communications, public administration, or a related field; master's preferred.
• At least 10 years in community engagement, diaspora programming, nonprofit leadership; 3+ years in senior/Director role.
• Ability to design and launch programs from scratch; capable of leading through ambiguity in founding new departments.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills with credible, trusted networks across Coptic communities internationally.
• Strategic thinker who translates vision into operational plans, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
• Proven ability to build, lead, and develop teams, manage budgets, and operate as a peer Director.
• Deep roots within the Coptic diaspora with established credibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and advance the third core aspiration by translating it into a multi-year department strategy with milestones.
• Build and lead the Diaspora & Community Engagement Department, including its team, culture, cadence, and standards.
• Manage departmental budget and resources across geographies and programs.
• Establish metrics for diaspora identity, belonging, and engagement beyond fundraising.
• Collaborate with Donor Relations, Marketing, Programs, and Country leadership to ensure aligned touchpoints.
