Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Herndon, VA is seeking a Construction Cost Engineer to support data center projects across North and South America. You will drive cost control, benchmarking, and value engineering within a global team of engineers, procurement, and operations professionals.

The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of MEP systems, and experience with cost data management, change orders, and vendor coordination, with travel up to 30% as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience managing large, complex construction projects with MEP systems.
• Experience in construction or project management.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and Windows OS.
• 5+ years of project management in data centers or critical infrastructure
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and SOPs
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with electrical/mechanical DC infra
• Experience reading/constr specifications and drawings for all domains

Responsibilities

• Utilize tools and templates for bid analysis and cost management.
• Engage and manage third party Quantity Surveyor vendors.
• Communicate cost control goals to all stakeholders effectively.
• Identify Value Engineering opportunities and quantify savings.
• Identify project risks and cost impacts and communicate to the broader team.
• Update repository for historical data and track cost performance metrics.
• Provide cost analysis of schedule and design variations.
• Validate final award amount and scope based on contract documents.
• Execute cost control, change management, progress and performance reporting.
