Job summary

DHL Express, Inc. seeks a qualified Customs Entry Agent to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing shipments, processing entries to US Customs, and computing tariffs.

You will review invoices and documents to properly classify goods and secure timely releases, coordinating with origin and destination offices. The role requires familiarity with Harmonized Tariff coding, entry procedures, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications.
• Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice.
• Access to secured airport areas; ability to obtain SIDA badge and meet regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with government rules.
• Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and government entries.
• Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and handling processes.
• Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintains open communication with foreign affairs department.
• Examine invoices and documents to determine correct Harmonized Tariff Code.
