Job summary

Grainger seeks a Customs Classifier Specialist to ensure compliant import/export classifications for North America and Latin America. You will apply HTS codes, EAR compliance, and tariff programs, coordinating with brokers and internal teams in a hybrid role onsite two days weekly in Lake Forest or Chicago.

Required: Bachelor’s in business or logistics, 1+ years in customs, and strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations; Mastery of HTS, EAR, and related programs is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or logistics, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years in customs and international supply chain logistics with CBSA/US CBP knowledge.
• 5+ years in customs and international supply chain logistics preferred.
• Mastery of U.S. import regulations: HTS, EAR, FTAs, special programs, PGAs and entry processes.

Responsibilities

• Classifies products using HTS codes and determines duties for U.S., Canada, and Mexico imports.
• Applies export/ special trade programs and ensures accurate product descriptions.
• Assigns Export Schedule B numbers and ECCNs and determines export licensing requirements under EAR.
• Ensures compliance with U.S., Canada, and Mexico government regulations.
• Responds to classification inquiries from customs brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintains classification databases, audit trails, and source customs rulings.
• Performs daily HTS audits to ensure accurate classification and compliance.
