Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a global nonprofit to fill a Global Controller contract role. The position is primarily remote but requires one day per month in the Manhattan office. East Coast candidates who can travel monthly are welcome to apply.

Ideal candidates have experience in large nonprofit accounting and CPA preferred. The role oversees US and global accounting, including grants, financial reporting, and audits, with leadership of a 10+ person team.

Qualifications

• Experience leading accounting for a $200M+ nonprofit organization at Director or Controller level.
• CPA highly preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong knowledge of non-profit GAAP, ASC 958, restricted funds management, and consolidations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of all accounting functions in the US and globally, including grants and restricted funds accounting, financial reporting, and controls.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Create dashboards and presentations to provide financial insights for decision making.
• Mentor a 10+ person accounting team and foster cross-organizational collaboration.
• Determine reporting metrics, policies, and identify process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international regulations including audits and tax filings (Forms 990, 990-PF).

Job description

** Primarily remote position, but Controller needs to come into the office in NYC 1x per month**

LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a global non-profit organization to fill a Global Controller position on a contract basis. This role will be primarily remote but requires one day per month in office in Manhattan. We are happy to consider candidates along the East Coast provided they are comfortable coming into the office once per month. We are searching for a candidate who has previously worked within a global non-profit organization or foundation.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic oversight of all accounting functions in the US and globally including operational accounting like Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll as well as grant and restricted fund accounting, financial reporting, and financial controls
• Leading the month-end/year-end close process and financial statement preparation
• Creating financial dashboards and presentations to provide financial insights that contribute to organizational decision making
• Acting as a mentor to 10+ person accounting team encouraging collaboration across the organization
• Determining reporting metrics, financial policies, and identifying areas where processes could be streamlined or improved
• Ensuring compliance federal, state, and international regulatory obligations including oversight of annual audits and tax filings (Forms 990, 990-PF

Qualifications:

• Previous experience within a $200M+ non-profit organization at Director or Controller level
• CPA is highly preferred

Schedule:

• 9 - 5 PM with potential additional hours
• Primarily remote, but will need to come into the office in Manhattan once monthly
