Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Global Controller to lead worldwide accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, treasury, and internal controls across 40+ offices. You will partner with firm leadership, manage a large international team, and drive policy, process improvements and system modernization.

Reporting to the CFO, this role requires CPA or equivalent, 10+ years of accounting/finance experience with 5+ years in a controller capacity, and strong GAAP and multi-jurisdictional expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required (or equivalent)
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 5+ years in controller or senior role
• Experience in professional services or law firm environment preferred
• Experience managing multi-entity, multi-currency operations globally
• Strong GAAP knowledge, internal controls, and external audit processes
• Proficiency with Enterprise Accounting and Billing & Collections systems (Elite 3E or Aderant)

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the accounting function across 40+ offices globally
• Oversee financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flows
• Maintain accounting records and internal controls; monitor risk management
• Lead international compliance, regulatory filings and audits
• Manage external audit process and remediation activities
• Drive policy development, processes, and system optimization
• Oversee liquidity management across global footprint
• Coordinate with CFO and senior leadership on financial planning/analysis
• Lead accounting technology modernization and automation initiatives
• Mentor and develop accounting professionals across regions
