Job summary

Endurance Energy is seeking a seasoned Controller to build the accounting function from the ground up for a pre-revenue subsea geothermal startup. You will own the monthly close, GAAP financials, internal controls, ERP, and the multi-entity structure behind our projects, ensuring audit readiness from day one.

Reporting to the COO, you will work with executives, auditors, and outside counsel, shaping the function to run without heroics and hiring the accounting team as the company scales globally.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years of progressive accounting experience with controller ownership.
• Proven track record building an accounting function at a scaling company.
• Deep GAAP fluency including revenue recognition and cost accounting.
• Experience with multi-entity consolidation and SPVs or international subsidiaries.
• Hands-on ERP implementation or migration, preferably NetSuite.
• Experience managing auditors and annual financial diligence.
• Cost accounting in a manufacturing or hardware environment.
• Clear, direct writing for memos, policies and audits.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close end-to-end with GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Lead ERP implementation and COA design, integrations, and automation.
• Design and mature internal controls toward audit-grade standards.
• Own multi-entity accounting, consolidation, and project SPVs.
• Own audit readiness: select auditors, manage process, and diligence.
• Develop cost and inventory accounting for manufacturing operations.
• Own revenue recognition for first-of-a-kind contracts and long-term deals.
• Coordinate tax compliance with external advisors across jurisdictions.
• Oversee payroll, equity accounting, and stock-based compensation.
• Manage AR/AP and treasury operations with banking relationships.
• Collaborate to align close, forecast, and actuals monthly.
• Build and lead the accounting team as the company grows.
