Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Active CPA certification.
• 8+ years progressive accounting experience across manufacturing, technical accounting, and global org.
• Big 4 or national CPA firm audit experience preferred.

Job description

We are exclusively partnered with an international manufacturer headquartered in The Woodlands, TX to help them hire a Global Controller. Reporting to the CFO, the Global Controller will lead global accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This individual will ensure accurate, timely financial results in accordance with U.S. GAAP while strengthening processes across a decentralized, multi-site organization. This position combines technical controllership, operational finance, and team leadership, with significant exposure to senior management.

The Global Controller will partner with the CFO on strategic priorities, accounting policies, and business initiatives; lead a global accounting team; and collaborate closely with business-unit finance leaders, technical accounting, and shared services.

This position is fully on-site in The Woodlands with a small amount of international travel.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee the global monthly close, consolidation, and financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate results and compliance with corporate deadlines.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, annual, and tax-related reporting, including the review of financial information submitted by operating units.
• Maintain consistent accounting policies, reporting practices, and internal controls across business units.
• Promote strong corporate governance, accountability, ethical conduct, and financial discipline throughout the organization.
• Conduct risk-based reviews of balance sheets, account reconciliations, reserves, manual journal entries, and other key controls. Ensure timely remediation of identified issues.
• Oversee compliance with local statutory reporting requirements.
• Research, document, and resolve complex accounting matters, coordinating with technical accounting resources and external auditors as needed.
• Identify and escalation unusual transactions, emerging risks, and accounting or control issues before they affect reporting deadlines or business decisions.
• Partner with shared services to improve order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report processes.
• Strengthen management reporting through standardization, automation, and effective use of financial systems.
• Collaborate with business-unit finance leaders to clarify site-level responsibilities and address staffing or organizational needs.
• Support acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, compliance initiatives, and other special projects.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and performance leadership to global finance staff.
• Communicate accounting policies, control requirements, and reporting expectations clearly across the organization.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA certification.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience that includes experience with all of the following: Manufacturing industry, Technical accounting, and work with a complex global accounting organization.
• Public accounting audit experience in a Big 4 or other national CPA firm working with publicly-traded clients is heavily preferred.
