Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience managing full‑cycle close and GAAP.
  • Manufacturing and cost accounting experience including inventory, WIP, overhead, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Strong internal controls and accounting policies; audits experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred).

Responsabilités

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
  • Provide leadership for manufacturing and cost accounting.
  • Oversee inventory, WIP, labor, overhead, standard costs, and variances.
  • Analyze margins, costs, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with Finance and operations on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and planning.

  • Support audits and government contract accounting requirements (FAR/DFARS, DCAA).

Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function and oversee financial reporting, close activities, cost accounting, controls, and related financial processes.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is comfortable operating at both the strategic and detailed levels. The Controller will partner closely with senior leadership and operational teams while ensuring the accounting organization provides accurate, timely, and useful financial information.

The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory, work-in-process, labor, overhead, standard costing, and variance analysis. Experience supporting a government contracting or defense-related environment is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.

Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

Provide leadership for manufacturing and cost accounting activities.

Oversee accounting for inventory, WIP, labor, overhead, standard costs, and manufacturing variances.

Analyze operating results, margins, costs, and other financial performance indicators.

Partner with Finance and operational leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning.

Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Support external audits and other financial compliance activities.

Support government contract accounting requirements, including direct and indirect cost structures.

Assist with applicable FAR, DFARS, and DCAA-related accounting requirements.

Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting activities.

Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, accounting processes, internal controls, ERP utilization, and automation.

Partner cross-functionally with Operations and other areas of the business to improve financial visibility and decision-making.

Support additional financial initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Strong experience managing full-cycle financial close activities.

Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.

Manufacturing and cost accounting experience.

Experience with inventory, WIP, standard costing, direct labor, overhead, and variance analysis.

Financial statement preparation and analysis experience.

Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting policies.

Experience supporting financial audits.

Advanced Excel skills.

Experience working with ERP and accounting systems.

Highly Preferred Experience

CPA or progress toward CPA.

Experience within a manufacturing environment.

Government contracting or defense-related accounting experience.

Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and DCAA requirements.

Experience with direct and indirect cost accounting.

Experience improving accounting systems, processes, reporting, or automation.

Additional Requirements

Ability to work primarily onsite in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Ability to work within a manufacturing environment and periodically interact with production operations.

Limited travel may be required.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
