Job summary

South Bend Clinic is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (or with related experience) for the Immediate Care department at the Eddy Street Campus. This on-site role requires strong patient care, clinical skills, and the ability to manage busy flow in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include triage, documentation in Epic, insurance verifications, and readiness for emergencies. Strong teamwork, organizational, and computer skills are essential to support physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant or non-certified with related experience.
• Proficiency with computers including EMR.
• Proficient clinical skills including medication administration, height, weight, BP reading, and injections.

• Performs the technical component of the department’s clinical procedures competently.
• Documents all patient care thoroughly and in line with guidelines.
• Communicates patient care thoroughly and accurately.
• Receives patients professionally in waiting area and rooms them per department protocol.
• Maintains logs for equipment such as refrigerator temp, autoclave, eyewash, crash cart.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage for pre-certification, referrals and/or authorizations in Epic.
• Responds to emergency situations appropriately.
• Cross-trains in other positions as directed by manager.

Eddy Street, South Bend, IN 46617 **Hours**: 40 Hours Weekly | Monday-Friday**RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Provides ongoing triage and management of office flow to meet patients’ medical and service needs in order to maintain optimal patient flow.* Performs the technical component of the department’s clinical procedures competently.* Documentation of all patient care is thorough, objective, concise, and follows appropriate legal guidelines.* Communication of all patient care is thorough, objective, concise, and follows appropriate legal guidelines.* Receives patients professionally in waiting area and rooms them per department protocol.* Maintains accurate/current logs for equipment, i.e., refrigerator temp, autoclave, eyewash, crash cart, etc.* Verifies patient insurance coverage for pre-certification, referrals and/or authorizations and documents in Epic.* Applies knowledge of general insurance guidelines and requirements to help direct patient care.* Appropriately responds to emergency situations.* Cross trains in other positions where appropriate as determined by manager.
