Pay Range - 78 - 83k depending on experience

Job Summary

The Global Category Specialist will assist with the development and accelerate the implementation of a global logistics strategy that positions the business for growth and cost competitive advantage. Reporting to the Global Category Manager – Logistics, this role will continue the deployment of a transportation and third-party warehousing & logistics (3PL) strategy to achieve business plan targets, leveraging the global transportation spend for all manufacturing sites, service centers and business offices. Additionally, the Global Category Specialist will work collaboratively with others in the business to ensure transportation and trade compliance with all regulations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help develop and implement global and regional sourcing strategies for various logistics categories and modes.
  • Using subject-matter expertise, guide and assist site-located logistics specialists in managing and resolving issues with all modes of transport for both International and domestic freight movement including Customs Brokerage.
  • Assist with the management of 3PL companies supporting dashboards and the transportation management system (TMS).
  • Assist with the RFI/RFQ process for logistics services, helping to evaluate bids and selecting providers that align with Celeros’ strategic goals.
  • Assist with carrier management by building solid business relationships with key logistics partners and suppliers, fostering long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Oversee carrier adherence to service level agreements, compliance requirements, and safety standards.
  • Support and coordinate export control certificates to assure customs compliance for outbound product.
  • Analyzing carrier data and dashboards to communicate market trends and pricing.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements (consolidation).
  • Provide market intelligence and analysis including benchmarking and forecasting.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on logistics sourcing policies, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor transportation usage and spend compliance with preferred carrier agreements.
  • Build strategic partnerships with internal Celeros global stakeholders and provide logistical operational support when needed.
  • Monitor country tariffs, duties and import/export changes to mitigate business disruptions and exposure while communicating changes to key stakeholders across the globe.
  • Identify duty drawback opportunities and lead duty recovery efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes and compliance monitoring best practices.
  • Clear understanding of transportation management systems and freight audit payment tools.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-border shipments in collaboration with freight forwarders and brokers.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams, including a history of working with colleagues around the world.
  • Experience with outsourced freight audit payment practices including invoice auditing, coding, and rate card management.
  • Possess considerable knowledge of Incoterms, documentation and international customs requirements.
  • Effective resource management and project management skills/capabilities.
  • Experience in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Works well under pressure with the ability to deliver on time.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years of related experience in logistics & strategic sourcing.
  • Experience with using and implementing a transportation management system across multiple sites.
  • Working knowledge of import / export regulations.
  • Experience working in a multi-national manufacturing company.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
