About the Job - Global Category Specialist - Logistics

Location: Houston, Westplain Campus

Work Environment: Monday – Friday

Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours

Pay Range: $78,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

Job Summary

The Global Category Specialist will support the development and implementation of a global logistics strategy, focusing on growth and cost efficiency. Reporting to the Global Category Manager – Logistics, this role involves managing transportation and third-party logistics (3PL) strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and working collaboratively across the company.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute global and regional logistics sourcing strategies.
  2. Assist site logistics teams with transport issues, including customs brokerage.
  3. Manage 3PL dashboards and transportation management systems.
  4. Participate in RFIs/RFQs, evaluate bids, and select logistics providers.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with logistics partners and suppliers.
  6. Ensure carrier compliance with SLAs, safety, and regulations.
  7. Coordinate export documentation for customs compliance.
  8. Analyze market data for trends and pricing insights.
  9. Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements.
  10. Provide market intelligence, benchmarking, and forecasting.
  11. Guide logistics sourcing policies in alignment with company goals and regulations.
  12. Monitor transportation spend and compliance with agreements.
  13. Build internal stakeholder relationships and support logistics operations.
  14. Track tariffs, duties, and import/export changes, communicating updates.
  15. Lead duty drawback and recovery efforts.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience with transportation management systems across multiple sites.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and customs requirements.
  • Experience in multinational manufacturing, preferably in Oil & Gas.
  • Strong understanding of logistics compliance, Incoterms, and documentation.
  • Excellent resource, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and initiative.
