Business Development Director – US Defense Sector

Defense Sector Experience and a DoD Security Clearance is Required for this position.

We seek a seasoned Business Development Director specializing in the U.S. Defense Sector to join our global team. This role will be based in the U.S., aligning with Ericsson’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North American market.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage strategic programs and initiatives to drive market development in the US Defense sector.
  • Enhance US Defense sector mobile communications innovation to evolve towards next generations.
  • Align efforts with Ericsson’s strategic goals within the defense sector.
  • Shape how defense organizations leverage mission-critical connectivity for operational excellence.
What You Will Do
  • Collaborate with Ericsson US teams to foster innovation within the U.S. Defense mobile communications ecosystem.
  • Oversee strategic initiatives to remove barriers and strengthen partnerships.
  • Engage with senior industry executives to position Ericsson as a leader in MCN innovation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on high-impact programs, mentoring junior staff.
  • Track and document market development initiatives to ensure measurable results.
Position Requirements
  • Deep understanding of the critical communications market, including industry economics, regulations, and ecosystem.
  • Experience in business development and procurement processes with government and defense agencies.
  • Knowledge of operational requirements and complex technology solutions in defense communications.
  • Familiarity with business models and lifecycle cost considerations over long periods.
You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar, with solid mobile communications knowledge.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in US Defense sector business development or critical communications.
  • Strong strategic vision and ability to influence industry standards.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, perseverance, customer orientation, and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience working in diverse, multinational environments with excellent communication skills.
