Business Development Director – US Defense Sector

Defense Sector Experience and a DoD Security Clearance is Required for this position. We seek a seasoned Business Development Director specializing in the U.S. Defense Sector to join our global team. This role will be based in the U.S., aligning with Ericsson’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North American market.

As a business development leader, you will:

  • Manage strategic programs and initiatives to drive impactful market development and boost US Defense sector mobile communications innovation.
  • Ensure alignment with Ericsson’s strategic goals within the defense sector.
  • Shape how defense organizations leverage mission-critical connectivity for operational excellence.

What You Will Do

  1. US Innovation Focus: Collaborate with Ericsson US teams to develop and deploy solutions supporting the DoD's FutureG plans.
  2. Strategic Initiatives: Oversee execution of initiatives to remove barriers, strengthen partnerships, and enhance US Defense sector mobile communications.
  3. Market Engagement: Engage with senior industry executives to position Ericsson as a leader in MCN innovation.
  4. Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead and mentor teams working on market and business development programs.
  5. Performance Oversight: Track initiatives against milestones to ensure measurable results.

The position requires:

  • Deep understanding of the critical communications market, including industry dynamics, regulations, and ecosystem.
  • Experience with business development and procurement in defense communications.
  • Knowledge of operational requirements and delivery models in defense.
  • Understanding of complex technology solutions and lifecycle cost models.

You will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, with solid knowledge of the mobile communications market.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in US Defense sector business development or related roles.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, resilience, customer orientation, strong analytical skills, and collaborative spirit.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives influencing industry standards.
