Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Manager, General Engineering to lead avionics software development and certification efforts. You will direct a team of engineers across design, test and certification, ensuring program performance and adherence to DO-178C processes.

The role requires 10+ years in aerospace software, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems using C/C++. Travel up to 4 international trips per year may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS/EE and 10+ years in aerospace software.
• 4+ years of DO-178C certification experience.
• 4+ years leading avionics software life-cycle activities.
• 4+ years of real-time embedded C/C++ development.
• 3+ years of program planning and leadership for mid-large teams.
• Non-US Person — authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development from requirements through test and certification.
• Lead a team of engineers in avionics design, test and certification.
• Ensure program performance and day-to-day operations execution.
• Assign resources, onboard and coach new team members; provide technical coaching.
• Serve as primary engineering focal point to customers.
• Address employee performance and development needs.
• Identify staff, facilities and equipment needed for projects.
• Supervise 16 reports across various software and systems roles.
