Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a senior automation leader to drive controls architecture, machine safety, and global technology transfer across U.S. and China operations.

You will lead standardization of PLCs, HMIs, networking, and data platforms while partnering with engineering teams to deploy advanced manufacturing solutions. The role requires 5+ years in industrial automation, strong leadership, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, controls architecture, and machine safety systems.
• Experience qualifying and validating manufacturing equipment; working with global teams and OEMs is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Lead the development, review, and standardization of controls architectures, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, data collection platforms, and enterprise automation standards across global operations.
• Lead qualification, validation, and acceptance testing of automation, robotics, machine vision, inspection technologies, and advanced manufacturing systems.
• Conduct machine safety assessments and controls reviews to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, RIA, NFPA, UL, and electrical codes.
• Partner with U.S., China, WH Group engineering teams to evaluate and transfer proven automation technologies across facilities.
• Collaborate with OEMs and technology developers to implement next-generation automation and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Evaluate processing controls, packaging systems, robotics, machine vision, X-ray, metal detection, and end-of-line automation for effectiveness.
• Conduct supplier audits, factory evaluations, equipment reviews, and risk identification early in projects.
• Serve as the controls or automation lead for strategic capital projects and implementation support.
