Job summary

AbbVie in the United States seeks an Asset Strategy Leader to chair the Asset Strategy Team and drive enterprise-wide asset strategy from discovery to end of life.

You will align five subteams, partner with PCM governance, and ensure cross-functional delivery of development and commercialization plans, while maintaining budget and resources.

This role requires deep pharma experience, strong leadership, and the ability to make Go/No-Go decisions with data-driven judgment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech setting with deep expertise in drug development and/or commercialization.
• Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, executive function, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading a team in a cross-functional environment, preferably with a global scope.
• Ability to assimilate new knowledge rapidly and apply that to asset strategy.
• Ability to lead and motivate team members from across functional areas; must be able to lead through influence and bring out the best in others.
• Ability to delegate appropriate accountability and decision-making to supporting teams and functions.
• Ability to respectfully challenge team members and functions, and manage conflict, in order to assess fully all opportunities, options, risks, and mitigations.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Asset Strategy Team (AST) and align across five core deliverable teams.
• Serve as enterprise leader and primary contact for PCM Governance and senior management.
• Develop integrated cross-functional asset strategy for development and commercialization; supervise Go/No-Go milestones.
• Build collaborative relationships with governance members and executives for timely decisions.
• Review emerging data and present recommendations to address risks and opportunities.
• Ensure resource planning and budget adherence; advocate for incremental resources as needed.
• Represent AST in external engagements and maintain industry awareness.
