Job summary

Vitro seeks a Product Engineer to lead technical product development of glazing systems at our Michigan facilities, with some residency or travel to OEM centers and build/manufacturing sites. You will drive design and engineering activities for windshield, door windows, roof panels, and related glass components, ensuring manufacturability and quality per Vitro and OEM standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3+ years lead experience on OEM product launches.
  • Familiarity with automotive glazing systems and AIAG/APQP processes.
  • Strong ability to supervise design teams and ensure on-time release of product designs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Spanish desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of Design Engineers on assigned projects.
  • Ensure Vitro product designs meet customer and regulatory requirements; develop, review, approve, and release prints and specs.
  • Serve as Design liaison between OEM and Vitro to align customer voice with technical needs.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with APQP/TS/IATF16949 for product engineering activities (DFMEAs, BOM, DVP&Rs).
  • Support launches during pre-production and production, source alternatives for fabrication, and assist with build milestones.
