Job summary

City of Hermitage is seeking a GIS & Utilities Technician to support our Facilities & Grounds Director. You will collect and verify data for GIS mapping, and use GPS to locate city infrastructure in the field.

You will participate in large project meetings and manage PA One Call notifications. Qualified candidates have an associate degree or equivalent GIS experience, proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS and GPS data collection standards, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in geography, computer science or related field.
• Two years of GIS experience or equivalent education required.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and GPS data collection standards is required.

City of Hermitage

The City of Hermitage is seeking a GIS & Utilities Technician to report to the Director of Facilities & Grounds.

This position collects and verifies data for GIS program mapping by utilizing GPS equipment to field locate and identify city infrastructure; participates in pre-construction meetings for major or complex construction projects; coordinates, manages, and responds to notifications from the PA One Call system; and performs required administrative and recordkeeping tasks.

Qualifications include an associates degree in geography, computer science or a related field; minimum of two years related experience utilizing geographic information systems, or an equivalent combination of experience and education; knowledge of ESRI Arc suite of GIS software, including ArcGIS and GPS data collection standards, excellent communication skills and a valid drivers license.

Starting hourly wage is $28.60, increasing to $31.09 after one year, current top rate (after 4 years) is $33.64. Excellent benefit package including healthcare, vision, dental, paid leave (vacation, holidays, personal days, sick days), life insurance, short-term disability plan, and pension plan.
