Job summary

Accelera is seeking Distribution Field Technicians to support fiber make-ready initiatives and electric utility distribution projects across North Carolina and Virginia. You will develop a professional foundation in power delivery, GIS, and joint-use engineering while working outdoors in pairs.

You will gather data on infrastructure with measurement tools, mobile software, and tablets, documenting assets and coordinating with design teams to ensure field data meets project specifications.

Qualifications

Field Environment

This position requires a high level of comfort working outdoors for the duration of your shift. You should be prepared for the following conditions:

• Extensive daily walking.
• Navigating across rough or uneven ground.
• Working in roadside environments.
• Managing through areas with dense vegetation.
• Enduring various weather conditions, including rain, cold, and heat.
• Transporting field gear weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Operating a vehicle to travel between various job sites.
• Collaborating effectively within a two-person field team.

Travel Expectations

Regular travel is a fundamental requirement for this role. Candidates should be prepared for:

• Consistent weekly travel throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
• Frequent stays in hotels for overnight assignments.
• A typical work week running Monday through Thursday, subject to project needs.
• Operating rental or company-provided vehicles.
• Taking responsibility for the security of a rental vehicle during overnight stays.
• Possessing a valid driver's license and a readiness for frequent travel.

Required Qualifications

• A strong commitment to performing field-based work approximately 90% of the time.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Capability to safely operate a company or rental vehicle.
• Foundational proficiency with mobile devices, tablets, and computers.
• A desire to master GIS and data collection software.
• An aptitude for learning the intricacies of joint-use processes and electric distribution.
• Experience in fields such as utilities, construction, telecommunications, surveying, GIS, field services, or infrastructure inspection.
• Physical capability to walk significant distances every day.
• The ability to safely traverse changing terrain and outdoor environments.
• The physical strength to carry approximately 40 lbs. of equipment.
• Flexibility to accommodate regular overnight travel within the region.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of electric distribution systems.
• Familiarity with overhead distribution and utility poles.
