Job summary

The City of Manvel is seeking a GIS Technician to support city GIS operations. This entry-level position involves creating and maintaining spatial data, performing quality control, and collaborating with various departments.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in a related field and some GIS experience. Responsibilities include using ESRI software and assisting with data maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year professional GIS experience or 2 years academic GIS experience preferred.
• Beginner to intermediate level knowledge of ESRI products.
• Ability to read plats, legal descriptions, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control for database maintenance.
• Use ArcGIS software to create and maintain GIS data.
• Assist in maintaining city-wide addressing systems and utility mapping.

Skills

Knowledge of ESRI products

Understanding of maps and spatial analysis

Effective communication skills

Education

Associate's degree in Geographic Information Science

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with GIS coursework
