SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
This is a full time, Fair Labor Standards Act non-exempt, non-Civil Service GIS Technician position, with a typical 40-hour work week. The typical work schedule will be Monday thru Thursday 10 hours per day (4-10 schedule) from 6:30 am to 5 pm. Work schedule is flexible to suit most common schedules as well, pending supervisor approval.
The GIS Technician will collect, revise, and publish GIS data on public works assets which may include, but not limited to, streets, water, sewer, stormwater, parks, cemetery, city owned facilities and other infrastructure, for use in the city’s asset management program. The Technician will gather field data, digitize engineering drawings, and update and maintain the cities ArcGIS through ESRI to accurately record the location and attributes of these assets. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, physical ability to walk around the City and ability to work independently in the field with fellow staff members as needed. The technician should be able to read and interpret drawings and be proficient in Microsoft Programs, as well as Trimble data collection.
