Performs data and mapping activities using geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, including creation, conversion and maintenance of graphic and non graphic data and the preparation of maps and map books for City users and departments.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Input geographic and associated descriptive data into the GIS using a variety of methods including digitizing, importing and converting from other data sources manual input and GPS field data collection.
- Maintain geographic and associated descriptive data as the data is updated or revised by city users and departments.
- Maintain documentation of data format, contents, sources and updates.
- Design and produce computer generated maps and reports of the City’s infrastructure, parcel and street land base, planning and land use, and emergency service data using the GIS Software.
- Organize, maintain, update and analyze information obtained from various sources by coordinating with all principal users and providers of geographic information in other City departments and outside agencies.
- Maintain map atlases for several City departments.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of GIS maps using data from various sources such as surveys, plats, and as-built drawings.
- Provide address creation and coordination with internal departments and external agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of GIS materials for board and commission meetings and handouts.
- Comply with established safety policies and procedures in accordance with applicable OSHA regulations.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Desired Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Geography, City Planning or Engineering Sciences.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in GIS cartographic mapping and analysis, coordinate systems and relational database management systems.
- Must posses a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and be insurable.
- At least one year of work experience working for a municipality or government entity, preferred.
