Responsibilities include the creation, conversion, and maintenance of graphic and non-graphic data, and the preparation of maps and map books to support City departments and users.


Position Summary:

Performs data and mapping activities using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Responsibilities include the creation, conversion, and maintenance of graphic and non-graphic data, and the preparation of maps and map books to support City departments and users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Input geographic and descriptive data into GIS through digitizing, importing, manual input, and GPS field collection.
  • Maintain and update GIS datasets based on input from City departments.
  • Document data format, contents, sources, and updates.
  • Design and produce digital maps and reports related to City infrastructure, parcels, streets, land use, planning, and emergency services.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for data collection and integration.
  • Maintain departmental map atlases.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining GIS maps using surveys, plats, and as-built drawings.
  • Provide address creation and coordinate addressing information with departments and agencies.
  • Assist in preparing GIS materials for board and commission meetings.
  • Adhere to safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Geography, City Planning, Engineering Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of GIS cartographic mapping and analysis experience, including coordinate systems and relational databases.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and insurable driving record.
  • One (1) year of municipal or government GIS work experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of GIS principles, land-based mapping theory, and current trends in GIS technology.
  • Ability to install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot GIS hardware and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with integrated GPS and GIS systems.
  • Skilled in creating analytical maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and written reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, desktop/server operating systems, and mobile operating systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and write clear documentation.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Decision-making skills aligned with organizational policies.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to travel frequently within city limits.
