Job summary

State of Delaware’s Division of Transportation Solutions is seeking an Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician IV to support GIS mapping, data management, and analysis for Land Services and Right-of-Way programs.

You will integrate data from multiple sources, produce maps and reports, and collaborate with engineers, planners, and surveyors to inform transportation planning and property management decisions.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in data management and analysis used in transportation planning.
• Three years experience in using GIS for collecting, analyzing, and mapping data.
• Three years experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report on data.
• Six months experience in developing and recommending plans, specifications, designs, studies or surveys.
• Six months experience in project management with planning, implementing, and evaluating projects.
• Six months experience in developing analytical and technical documents such as reports, maps, or geographical representations of data.
• Six months experience in identifying and implementing process improvements and maintaining filing systems to ensure compliance with laws and procedures.
• Knowledge of contract management and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Inspects infrastructure to ensure compliance with design plans and codes; documents findings.
• Designs, develops, or reviews engineering layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, graphs, and related activities.
• Compiles notes, sketches, test results, inspection data to document compliance and develop designs or reports.
• Conducts studies to analyze needs or develop plans and record characteristics.
• Performs data analysis to determine accuracy and develop recommendations.
• Operates CAD equipment and uses GIS and computer software to enter and report data.
• Reads and interprets plans, specifications, and blueprints.
