Job summary

Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) Division of Transportation Solutions seeks an Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician IV to manage and analyze transportation data, map data, and support land services and right-of-way programs.

You will collaborate with agents, surveyors, planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate statewide land and right-of-way data, producing maps and reports to inform planning and real property decisions.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in data management and analysis used in transportation planning.
• Three years experience in GIS for collecting, analyzing, and mapping data.
• Three years experience using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report data.
• Six months experience in developing and recommending plans, specifications, designs, studies or surveys.
• Six months experience in project management including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Six months experience in developing analytical and technical documents such as reports, maps, or geographical representations of data.
• Knowledge of contract management and control; negotiating changes to existing contracts.
• Knowledge of staff supervision through coursework or work experience; or supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Inspects infrastructures to ensure compliance with design plans, materials specifications, safety requirements, construction processes, codes, and maintenance requirements.
• Designs, develops, or reviews engineering project/site layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, graphs, and related activities.
• Compiles and records notes, sketches, test results, inspection data for compliance or designs.
• Conducts studies to analyze needs or develop plans and collect characteristics.
• Performs data analysis to determine accuracy and make recommendations.
• Tests or evaluates material or design quality to verify contract adherence.
• Obtains survey data using surveying equipment.
• Calculates area and volume, geometry, and material testing dimensions.
• Operates CAD/GIS tools to enter, update, report on data.
• Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints, and other documents.
• Performs other related duties as required.
