Job summary

State of Illinois is seeking a GIS specialist to create taxing district maps and statewide digital databases, and to assist in statistical research and spatial analysis of appraisal and tax data.

You will write programs, develop user interfaces, and support cadastral mapping while collaborating with government officials and the public. Training and cross-functional opportunities are provided within a state agency setting.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree with at least 20 semester hours in geography, GIS, cartography or CS.
• Knowledge of GIS methods, data analysis and map production.
• Ability to work with government officials and the public.

Responsibilities

• Create taxing district maps and statewide digital databases.
• Assist in statistical research and spatial analysis of appraisal and tax data.
• Write programs and develop interfaces, menus and macros.
• Support cadastral mapping for local assessing officials; update manuals as needed.
