Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is offering a summer GIS Intern position in the GIS Management Department in Lansing, MI. This part-time internship provides hands-on experience supporting GIS data cleanup, collection, digitization, and data integrity initiatives using Esri ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and Survey123.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited GIS program with junior or senior status during summer 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• A cover letter is requested with your submission.

Responsibilities

• Assist the GIS Management Department with expanding GIS capabilities and data integrity initiatives.
• Update vertical assets in GIS, pull Mapcon data, and perform data cleanups.
• Support GIS data collection, digitization, development, and quality control.
• Collaborate with GIS developers, admins, field staff, and technicians.
• Use office software and Esri tools, including SAP.
• Participate in improving BWL's Asset Management System.
• Follow BWL safety policies and wear PPE during field work.
• Attend required training and safety programs.
• Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and work rules.
• Maintain predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
