Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has an opening for a GIS Intern in our GIS Management Department, located in Lansing, MI. This paid summer internship runs May 13, 2027 to August 13, 2027, with a pay rate of $23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited GIS-related program with junior or senior status during summer 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall.

Responsibilities

• Assist with expanding GIS capabilities and data integrity initiatives.
• Update vertical assets in GIS, including MapCon data, Survey123, and data cleanup as needed.
• Support GIS data collection, digitization, development, and quality-control activities.
• Collaborate with GIS developers, administrators, field staff, and GIS management technicians.
• Utilize standard office software and Esri software in daily tasks; SAP experience a plus.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System.
