Job summary

Sunoco LP is seeking a detail-oriented GIS Intern for its midstream oil & gas operations. This 12-week paid internship starts May 2027; you must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate GIS/ Geography program with graduation expected Fall 2027 or Spring 2028, in San Antonio, TX.

You will work with GIS, engineering, and operations teams on mapping, data management, and regulatory compliance across pipeline projects, gaining hands-on experience with geospatial tools and data workflows.

Qualifications

GPA 3.0 or higher
Enrolled in or recently graduated from a GIS/ Geography degree program
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and geospatial data structures
Strong attention to detail and ability to read technical drawings and data
Proficiency in Excel and MS Office
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

Assist with creation, editing, and maintenance of pipeline and facility GIS data
Support integrity management by mapping pipeline inspection data (ILI, hydrotest)
Contribute to cartographic products (alignment sheets, system maps)
Integrate GPS field data into enterprise GIS systems
Support web-based GIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, Enterprise Portal)
Document GIS processes, workflows, and metadata
