Job summary

Surge Energy America in Houston, TX is seeking a Data Analyst, GIS for a contract role to manage and analyze geospatial data supporting land operations. You will serve as the primary GIS resource for the land department, mapping tracts, maintaining leasehold data, and delivering accurate spatial analyses using ArcGIS Pro and Quorum GIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, MIS, or related field.
• At least 3 years of Oil and Gas experience.
• Experience with Quorum GIS land mapping and ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
• Knowledge of oil and gas land operations (leases, E&P, mineral ownership).
• Proficiency in geodatabase design and spatial data management.
• Ability to interpret legal land descriptions and survey data.
• Familiarity with PLSS and Texas Abstract survey systems.

Responsibilities

• Map new tracts and agreements using ArcGIS Pro and Quorum QGIS.
• Maintain leasehold data and support land acquisition/divestiture via mapping.
• Run and validate Polygen; use Aliquot tool; link geometries to agreements.
• Perform routine data quality checks, updates, and spatial maintenance.
• Coordinate with landmen and data teams to translate descriptions into GIS.
• Integrate data across Quorum modules and GIS platforms for consistency.
• Develop and maintain map services, web maps, and Portal for ArcGIS apps.
• Assist IT tickets and support GIS project implementations.
• Stay current with GIS technologies and industry trends.
