Job summary

City of Winter Springs (FL) is seeking a professional GIS Technician to develop, maintain, and edit maps and mapping data for engineering projects. You will read legal descriptions, collect data via GPS, and prepare visuals for presentations.

Responsibilities include CAD and ArcMap drafting, data compilation, online maps, and assisting the public with viewing archives. A two-year GIS/cad background and an Associate degree are expected; Florida driver's license required.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Geography, Computer Science, Planning, or Civil Engineering.
Two years of experience in GIS, CAD and mapping.
Florida driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

Creates, edits, and maintains maps and data for engineering projects and databases.
Prepares technical drawings using AutoCAD, ESRI ArcMap, or similar software.
Compiles data for map creation (survey data, GIS data, field data, plans).
May create and maintain online mapping applications.
Prepares engineering drawings for infrastructure with GPS field work as needed.
Reviews descriptions, record drawings, and as-built plans for accuracy.
Links map features to a database and performs data edits.
Assists the public and other departments by providing departmental information.
Performs basic admin duties and customer interactions.
Provides exceptional customer service and problem resolution.
